What is a Craftsman style house plan? Popular in the first half of the 20th century, particularly in Southern California, the craftsman home enjoyed a revival in the 80s that continues to this day. It’s easy to see why. With an emphasis on handcrafted natural materials, the craftsman style, beginning in the 1920s, is rooted in a backlash against the finicky Victorian era. Equally, its no-nonsense virtues offered a comforting contrast to post-70s excess.
